Fun for the Veggie gardenMar 14, 2007
By Ima Goober I found these for the first time last year. These are so much fun to grow and pick. The colors really are Yellow, Green and Purple. They grow long and attractive. When cooked the purple beans do turn green, but the yellow ones remain yellow. They taste just like regular green beans. you will have fun with these.
Great productApr 23, 2012

I purchased these beans just because I love the bean plant in general, and thought the idea of tricolored bean pods was just too good to pass up. The beans in this packet are three different varieties--Kentucky Blue Lake, a very reliable variety; Yellow Pole Wax, and Purple Peacock. There seems to be a good mixture of beans available, although I don't know which is which, and I would have really appreciated a little note on the packet to help identify. The only real complaint I had is that the packet could include a few more beans--my Burpee Dragon Tongue beans are more numerous than I have need for, and I had 20+ Scarlet Emperor seeds from Botanical Interests after planting a few. But it's all right, you make up for that in the sheer production numbers. Reviews and pictures will be coming in the future.
fun to canSep 30, 2011

The seed packet had 72 seeds and almost all germinated. They turned out to be about 85% green plants, 10% yellow and about 5% purple beans. I just canned some of the purple beans and was surprised to see they turn green in the heat! So don't spend a lot of time aligning them in the can by color to make it look artful! They all taste great and were very hearty- no complaints. Just pointing out the heating surprise!

Grew well and produced three colors of beans as advertised. Didn't hold up too well to deep south heat and humidity.

Great beansAug 25, 2009
By A. Wilkes These beans grew beautifully and taste delicious. The flowers are pretty in the tricolors, and there is nothing more fun than serving people purple green beans.
